Wakesurfing

This past weekend, The Boss Man (my brother) took everyone out on his boat to try wakesurfing. Pita told everyone not to worry that she would teach them how it's done. Comforting, coming from a 3 year old!

Wakesurfing is similar to wakeboarding but there are no bindings to hold your feet on the board. This is my step-brother, Home Brew, and his daughter, College Girl, posing with the board.

This is my sister, The Manager, getting ready for her turn. Yes, we did make her put on a life jacket.

Vol Fan is exhibiting proper starting position. You start out with your feet propped on the board. Then as the boat starts to pull, you push down with your heels. Once you get the hang of it, the pressure of the water will pop the board up on your feet, at a 90 with the water. Then it's just like getting up on skis.

Once you are up, you pull yourself up the rope to the front of the wake. If you are good, you can let go of the rope and surf the wake. And, yes, Pita was able to show us all how to do it!!

The rest of us weren't exactly experts but we did it.

Yes, even The Incredible Woody was able to get up. But as you can tell from the expression on my face, I wasn't exactly one with the board!

This tended to happen. A lot. But Vol Fan was the only one lucky enough to get caught on film!

At the end of the day, everyone else had gone home. It was just Vol Fan, The Boss Man, Henny Penny, College Girl, and I left. It was the perfect time of day to be on the water, about 6 pm. The water was like glass. We were in an out-of-the-way cove. College Girl got up slalom for the first time. A perfect end to a perfect day!

Oh, and we were all VERY sore the next day!

Very impressive, Lori! I tried to water ski once when I was in high school. Not only did I lose my bikini top (I was very slim back in the day!), but I got an unexpected enema!

I don't plan to try anything like that ever again! hahaha! Give me the sandy beach and a good book any day!
