My Dad

This is my Dad. This is how I always picture him in my mind. Happy. Relaxed. In his work clothes. I don't think there has been a day in his life that he has not worn a white t-shirt.

He would just die if he knew that this picture is the one that I put on my blog for everyone to see. He is the type that always changes his clothes to go to town, even a quick trip to Wal-Mart or Lowe's. So I added this picture just in case he sees. This is his senior picture. Quite the handsome devil, don't you think? I don't think he has changed much.

I am sure he made my Mom just swoon. After high school, he attended a junior college near his hometown in western New York. Then he joined the Navy to pay for the remainder of his education. He was a pilot. Handsome, athletic, and a Navy pilot! Yeah, I'm sure she swooned.

Most people that know him would say that he is possibly the nicest person you could ever hope to meet. He is just one of those people that is genuinely concerned about other people and would always do anything to help.

He always has a joke just waiting for the right moment. Our family has heard some of these jokes many, many, MANY times but he loves (and tells) them just the same. He really gets a kick when he hears one of his complaining children (now grandchildren) tell one of his jokes.

His constant nemesis is the weeds that insist on invading his yard. If he were standing in your yard and there was a big dandelion, he would not be able to stop himself from pulling it. We tease him a lot about that.

His love and support has always been a constant in my life. Never loud or showy but always, always there. That has meant more to me than I could ever hope to convey. I am so blessed to have him in my life.

Plus, he's totally a badass.
He will be 73 in December and he learned how to wake-surf this past weekend!

Lori, your dad is HOT! Did your friends in high school get all goo-goo over him when he came to school functions??

Wakeboarding? It's a good thing you have a picture because I would have never believed it :)

GO, Go, Lori's DAD!!! He is awesome! My dad always wore a white t-shirt around the house and changed into a dress shirt to go anywhere, too. I guess it's just the generation. My dad would have been 72 in June.

Great post!
