My true self

I have learned something about myself while parked on the recliner with the bum ankle. Something that I would never have thought was true. Something shocking. Something almost revolting.

I have a hard time being pampered. I know. I know. Crazy. Right?

One of the things I have said for years and years is that I would love to have a person. Someone at my beck and call - to do all those things that I don't want to do.

But now that I have people willing to do things for me, what do I do? Say, "Oh, I'm fine. I don't need a thing."

I did break down and let my Dad go to the grocery for me. But I felt really guilty about it. I could have gone - ridden around in one of those scooter baskets. But then trying to figure out how I was going to carry the bags into the house while trying to navigate the steps on crutches just did me in. And I asked my Dad to go. But I still felt guilty.

I have a really great family that would do just about anything to help me. So the trick is to learn how to relax and let them!

A revelation.
I have not had this experience, but I do feel guilty if people have to do stuff for me too.
In theory, it would be grand. In real life, not so much.
I hope you recover quickly.
take it easy.

if you have a hard time with it, send those pamperers to me, I have no issue at all with being catered to. LOL!
Hope ya feel better soon.

I have a hard time asking for help too. Except with my husband. I get pissed if he doesn't offer it to me. But seriously, let them HELP! Sit down, relax, rest, be pampered. You have to to get better.

I agree, it's great in theory, but hard on the follow-through! I'm so accustomed to doing everything myself, that I'm sure I would find fault with someone who was JUST TRYING TO HELP!!!

If this HAD to happen, at least it was when you had family nearby. Have I told you how much I just LOVE your dad???

Suz - In theory, grand indeed!

VV - Thanks and I'll send them your way!

MTM - I get pissed when Vol Fan doesn't offer to help but then I go right behind him and redo it anyway!

Big Hair - He just happens to be the best Dad in the world!!
