My Not-So-Terrible Weekend With One Glaring Exception

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and words of encouragement from everyone! I stuck with my plan and my weekend wasn't that terrible!

It started with Thanksgiving Day at my family's house. I avoided situations that stress me - choosing to mainly hang with the kids. Pita wasn't feeling tip top so she was needing some extra loving and I was happy to oblige.

After dinner, College Girl and Soccer Boy started a Wii Fit tournament. It was brutal until the end - with Soccer Boy coming out slightly ahead.

Vol Fan was happy to handle any smart ass comments that needed to be handed out. They were brutal as well, which kept any potential drama to a minimum.

On Friday, we headed to Knoxville to spend the remainder of the holiday weekend with Vol Fan's family. I was prepared to have my short-lived peace come to an end.

Thankfully, Vol Fan was still in his brutal smart ass mode. His sister called, trying to get Vol Fan to be on her side in the latest drama. He was blunt to say the least - that he was not on her side, that he would not be on her side, ever! So that cut about 90% of the drama from the weekend.

On Sunday, I went shopping. For myself. I bought a handful of shirts - 2 white, 1 red, and 1 pink - and a pair of VERY comfortable jeans!

Now for the glaring exception.....

My brother, The Boss Man, and I have a very tangled web of pet ownership. I have kept his dogs a lot and he has kept mine. So we have both gotten very attached to each other's animals.

Last Wednesday, I was keeping Bear, The Boss Man's dog. He had a seizure, which is really scary! He has had them before and usually comes out of them on his own. So I just stayed by his side, petting him. Trying to calm him.

He finally made it to the point that he could walk but even after an hour, he still wasn't himself. So I called The Boss Man and he took Bear to the vet. They could find no reason for the seizure.

On Friday, he had another one. On Sunday, another - which was fatal. The best we can figure - he was eating at the time of the seizure and the seizure caused him to choke on the food.

Bear

He snored like a freight train. His farts would make the dead rise. His slobber was like cement on the walls. But he was a true and faithful friend. He will be missed.

Oh, this breaks my heart. What a little lover he seemed to be. You guys must be a mess with out him. I am so sorry. I do love your description though, sounds like my two stinkers here. I bet your baby misses him too.
I am glad your Thanksgiving was fairly drama free too. take care,

I had to get up and walk away from my computer for a few minutes before I could leave a comment. Losing a pet equates to losing a member of one's family. Each one holds a special place in your heart....forever.

There is one thing that has helped me in the past....I have purchased Christmas ornaments for my pets (and made stockings for them, but that's a whole different story!). Each year when I put up the tree, I enjoy seeing those ornaments and remembering my special pets:) I lost a cat right before Christmas a few years back. Fortunately, I was able to find a yellow tabby ornament to remind me of her!

Sorry for the rambling. I am feeling your pain...

Sorry to hear about Bear. I like Big Hair Envy's idea of Christmas ornaments for the pets.

I'm glad your weekend otherwise was good. It's great that Vol Fan is so quick with his remarks and can stop the drama before it begins.

The worst! I cried more over losing my dog than when my mother passed away. No offense, but he depended on me,and I'm the one who pulled the plug so to speak.
I bawled putting his ornaments on my tree, 8 years later!
Bear looks like a noble gent...and I'm sure my Charlie will find him in doggie heaven and wrestle that hat from him.
RIP Bear.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is indeed losing a dear family member.

Our dog too has had seizures and each of them is very scary. May you have been blessed by his company all those years. I know he will be missed.

I am so sorry...but if I may interject a bit of humor...

That totally sucks. Makes me sad just thinking about it. Sounds like it was just his time to go though. Prayers to you and The Boss Man. It's always sad to lose a friend...

I am sorry about Bear. Things like this really touch my heart because I know how much he meant to you and your brother. I am glad that for the most part your thanksgiving weekend went well. I love drama free moments...you have to enjoy them when you got um!
