Kids Say the Darnedest Things

Or in this case, kids say things that give you a real wake up call.

Yesterday, I had my wake up call.

I picked up Pita and AB from daycare and brought them to my house. Pita and I were playing tag and had just sat down on the front steps to rest.

Pita said, "Aunt Woody, why are you so fat?"

I answered, "Because I eat too much."

Pita said, "No, that's not it. It's because you are old....Like Ree-Ree."

Ree-Ree is her great-grandmother who is in the nursing home.

So obviously, Aunt Woody has GOT to make some changes in her life!

Makes you wonder what goes through their minds.
Sounds to me like your fit as a fiddle running around like that. :)

I think to skinny little kids, we all look fat. Don't take it personally. My niece used to always ask me why my nose looked so funny. really. Now she is 17 and I ask her why her butt is so much bigger than mine, paybacks. ;0
you are a great auntie.

I'm in your boat......when I went to take a bath the other night Diva popped in and in amazement with her eyes as big as saucers she says "WOW your buns are really big" I thought so, I was just waiting for confimation. I guess we'll have to rely on Pita and Diva to tell us the truth (as if we didn't already know!!) :)

Ah kids.... I remember when I first started teaching school (when was about 23 or so), the kids thought I was OLD.. At first it upset me, but then I just realized that they are JUST kids and don't know any better. Don't take it personally!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh, the stories you and Ree-Ree could tell.......!!!!!

If weight is the criteria, maybe we should start shopping for nursing homes NOW!!! Bwahahaha!

Ouch. Mmm ... yeah, I haven't had a kid say anything like that to me, yet, but I know I need to make some of those changes too. :(

Let me know how you get on!

Fat and old? At least she didn't tell you that you had bad breath. That's what my 3 year old niece told me years ago. I laughed right before I gave her a big fat kiss.

Kids have no idea of weight or age--so definitely don't take it personally! I asked some kids last week how old they thought I was and they said 90. I just agreed.

My wonderful oldest son was four years old when he announced to the whole cafeteria at Senior Sorority Girl's elementary school, that I wasn't fat, I was just fluffy.

I hope she never meats me because she would think I am HORRIFIC!
