Luck Was Anything But A Lady

Beginning last Saturday, Vol Fan and I went on vacation. We flew into Las Vegas and rented a car. Instead of heading out into the desert, we stayed a night in town.

We had an awesome suite at The Venetian. Every hotel room needs 3 flat panel televisions and remote controlled curtains!!

I meandered around The Grand Canal, treating myself to a nice Italian dinner and watching the volcano erupt at The Mirage. Being the party animal that I am, I was sound asleep by midnight. Sad!

While I was sawing logs, Vol Fan joined a Texas Hold-Em tournament. The tournament began with around 200 people and Vol Fan made it to the final table. So he won his entry money back!

He was really enjoying himself and still had his gambling cash. So he sat down at another table to play some more. He started the night with $200 and around 4am, he decided to call it a night. He had a stack of chips that totalled $1000.00!

He thought it would be cool to have a single $1000 chip. So he asked the guy next to him if he would trade his stack for one of his $1000 chips. The guy agreed.

Vol Fan reached across the table and as he pulled back, he accidentally dropped the chip! It fell beyond the bet line which meant he was forced to play it. He argued and argued. They called the pit boss over. Several armed security guards appeared.

But rules of the house were firm. He had to play it. Unfortunately, luck was anything but a lady. He was dealt a 6 and 7, off suit. And nothing that would help fell as the other cards were turned.

Poof - it was gone!!

As they say, "Easy come, easy go."

Did you get a good rate on the room?

Hope you had fun, anyway.

Poor Vol Fan...Sorry the $1000 went out of his hands so quickly... I'm not a gambler--mainly because I have never won much of anything in my life....BUT--if I did gamble, I would have to start with a certain amount of cash---and then quit when I was above that twenty and NOT below it... Too many people LOSE way too much money gambling.

My oldest son lives in Vegas now.. He's been begging us to visit him --but so far, we haven't been able to. They recently did some hiking at Red Rock Canyon near Vegas. He sent great pictures of their hike.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

The Venetian is gorgeous!

Vol Fan's story? That's why I play the penny slots. I'm not coordinated enough to keep ANYTHING away from the bet line!!!

Do you mean to tell me we missed each other by less than a week? Argh! I would have totally changed my plans had I known!

So sorry about the hubster's bet. I guess it doesn't seem so cool any more though, huh?

But how cool is it to make it to the final table of ANY Texas Hold 'Em tournament? Especially in Las Vegas!

Whaaaaaaaaaaat?! F-ing security guards. If you were anywhere else but Vegas you could have grabbed it and started running for the door. But there? You'd end up dead in a desert and inspiration for an episode of CSI. So really you are lucky because you made it out alive!
