(Alternative Title: How The Incredible Woody Occasionally Has Her Faith In Her Fellowman Renewed)
On Monday evening, Vol Fan and I went to dinner with his cousin and family. I have struggled to come up with an incognito name for them. Mainly because I know he reads and if I read, I would want a cool name.
His wife's name was easy - I'll call her Speech because she is a speech pathologist in real life. His daughter has the most beautiful blue eyes so Blue Eyes for her. His 5 month old son is one solid piece of baby with wonderful chubby cheeks and those glorious fat rolls on his legs - I just love chubby babies! So I'll call him Chunk. See - easy peasy.
But the cousin - well I could call him The Sane One Among A Sea of Crazies. But that is really too long - so I'll just go with Sane One. And trust me - Vol Fan's family really IS a sea of crazies!
But anyway back to the story....
While at dinner, someone brought up my blog. And then Vol Fan stated that in my post on our float trip down the river, I had left an important part of the story out. He proceeded to tell that part of the story and all were left wondering why I had left it out.
Well, I will tell you why. It is my blog and if I don't want to tell on myself, I won't. Nannienanniebooboo!!
But then I started thinking about it and decided to tell the tale.
You see, I have this problem. This affliction.
I lose things. There, I said it. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, right?
A large percentage of my sentences during any given day begin with "Where are my...."
Keys. I lose them.
Cell phone. I lose it.
Important papers. I lose them.
The most important thing to this story - my purse. I lose it. And yes, on the day of the float trip, I lost it.
After floating down the river all afternoon, I realized my purse was not in Vol Fan's truck. I assumed it was in my car.
After driving back to Copper's house, I realized my purse was not in my car. I assumed that I had just left it at the apartment.
After having dinner and heading home, I realized my purse was not in the apartment.
So we looked in each vehicle again. We turned the apartment upside down. It was nowhere to be found.
Then Vol Fan had a thought - one that struck terror to his very soul. We had lunch at Burger King before the float trip. Could I have left it there??? Eight hours earlier??? Vol Fan was picturing a gang of identity thieves doing a victory dance around it!
Once he mentioned it, I knew. Oh yes, I had left it there - hanging on the chair.
So we went to Burger King and inquired if anyone had turned it in. And that is when my faith in my fellowman was renewed.
Not only was it there. But all my credit cards were there. As was my debit card. As was about $200 in cash.
PS - Pita caught a fish!!

W00t! for the honest Burger King people! You are lucky! And that Pita gets cuter by the day.
Whew! Thank goodness!!!! You were very lucky... and it looks like Pita was too. Great fishing skills I'm sure :)
Yay!! I love to hear stories like that! I'm glad you got your purse back and everything was intact!
Pita is too cute for words!
Well I am glad that worked out. I always like to think peeps are honest. I hate it when I get it wrong.
That Pita is sure something else. Is she coming to the Gigglefest with you?
There is still hope for mankind! I know all too well the feeling of your heart in the pit of your stomach.
If you come to Blogfest, you better not show up without Pita!
Good karma has a way of coming back to us!!!! So glad you got it back.
Pita is adorable...can I have her? I will take good care..promise!!!
I'm so glad you got your purse back. I am also glad you post your blogs, because they make me remember things that happened in our lives.
When my daughter was 16, and just got her driver's license, she left her purse in a Dairy Queen, about 200 miles from here. I wasn't with her, but her daddy was. They were about 100 miles from the DQ when the daughter realized she didn't have her purse. Instead of getting mad, daddy turned around, went back, and lo and behold, her purse was right where she left it.
Sounds like you had a great time!
Loved the story! It makes me feel so-not-alone about losing everything but my marbles. So, I suppose I have the same affliction.
That Pita is just the cutest thing! She really does remind me of our daughter, when she was little...
I think it's hilarious that my verification word is preporki, especially since I'm actually postporki, lol. But, I do have pictures of me when I was preporki.
I am so glad there was a happy ending to this story...I would hate to think that someone had done the unthinkable.
Whew.
I hate to tell on myself as well.
Wow----I'm glad you got your purse back, Woody.. That is SCARY. But--as you said, there ARE some nice people still in this world!!!!!
Pita is such a cutie...
Hope you are having a good week.
Hugs,
Betsy
Yeah Pita!! And thank goodness one of the good guys found your purse! I'm glad your head is attached!! :)
I love stories with happy endings (espcially when they involve my friends!)
How cool. That definitely doesn't happen often!!
Hallie
I love the story! Too often we hear about the lost purse and the credit cards and cash stolen. It's nice to hear the other outcome!
Pita is delightful!
Don't you just LOVE it when your faith in humanity is restored???
I understand that you are not able to attend Blog Fest. I won't lie, I'm SO disappointed, but I totally understand. It just won't be the same without your smiling face:) Hope all is well.
BTW - Is Pita looking for a new home? I promise to take her fishing!!!!
Oh my gosh, Pita is so beautiful! I am so glad it was found. AND, most importantly, I am so glad to know you because you are RICH! 200 dollars? Get out of the city? I barely have 10 to take to the pool for snacks : )
Nice. Too bad somebody didn't anonymously put in the winning lotto ticket too.
I'm always losing things, too. Glad your story had a happy ending!
That's great - your purse was still there with everything in it! Yay! I think these days I would still change the PIN numbers at least, but it does restore your faith, doesn't it?
I've handed in credit cards that I've found. There are still plenty of honest people in this world.
Sweet little girl!
Yay for your purse! Yay for honest people! And YAY for cutie pie Pita!
