Camp Out

I received a call from Poppy yesterday morning. He had a question and he told me to be very careful with my answer. One answer could be very good for him. The other answer could be very good for Weezy.

The question: "Can we borrow your tent?"

Unfortunately for Poppy, I said that they were welcome to use the tent! They immediately came by to retrieve the tent and get some set up advice from me.

Off they went to set up camp. In the wilderness. Yes, they were camping in Poppy's backyard!

About 6pm, Poppy called to say that another camper had joined in the festivities. Pita had taken one look at that tent and knew she must sleep there, too.

Around 8:30, Vol Fan and I stopped by to check on the campers. We were greeted by Poppy in the driveway with the news that he had already lost one of his tent mates. Pita had already jumped ship and decided that she was sleeping inside with Mamaw!

She hadn't quite made it inside when we arrived. They were chowing down on microwave popcorn, enjoying the excitement of being outside after dark.

Both girls were very excited to have visitors. So excited, in fact, that Pita told Poppy that she just might sleep in the tent. If she had someone very brave with her. Someone brave like her Aunt Woody.

And that is how I ended up camping in the wilds of Poppy's backyard! We had a good time until about 5am when the neighbor let his dog out. The dog did not want to be out and proceeded to bark for the next 2 hours. Love neighbors like that!

We have the same neighbors in our neighborhood!

I used to sleep out in the tent and sometimes on the trampoline when my kids were little, so I know how much fun you must have had before the rude barking began.

Those kids are growing waaaay too fast!

You gotta love the backyard camp out, right up until the neighbor dog starts barking! So frustrating! Looks like a great time for all.

Awe Crap.... I hate barking dogs. We have a yappy one near us---that barks constantly. I'm surprised that someone hasn't complained about that darn dog.

Glad you had a good experience in the tent--protecting Pita. If you'll bring the kids and the tent up here---I'm sure you'll see deer, possoms, raccoons and SKUNKS after dark!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

LOL at the neighbors canines.
We have that non stop here every night....fortunately they are not right on top of us...woods separate us.
Your nieces will certainly remeber the fond memories you've made for them! PERFECT!

How fun! Backyard camping is great. Sorry to hear about the annoying dog--at least it wasn't the middle of the night.

What memories you made for them. All they will remember is you slept out there with them.

Oh, I hate people who shut their dogs out in the garden to bark for hours. I find it annoying, yes, but I also find it distressing. Dogs, being pack animals, are very stressed by being excluded, and I worry until they're let back in.

I always knew I wasn't cut out to be a camper. Not even in someone's back yard. LOL!

I borrowed my bosses tent back in 1987 and didn't return it until 1999...
