A Use-Your-Imagination New House Tour

Since I'm not the most mobile of people, please excuse the photography. I can't quite position myself to take the best photos. So anyway....Welcome to my new house!!

Eventually there will be blinds. And window treatments. And things hung on the wall. And new lighting...

This is the great room. That brown door on the right is the entertainment center, which holds our quickly dying television. Anyone have advice on TVs - plasma, lcd..??? That big brown chair in the corner behind Vol Fan's recliner is not nearly as crammed on top of the recliner as it looks. That area is supposed to be a dining area. But since we don't dine at the table very often, I decided to use it as additional seating/reading area.
One huge problem: Those damn blue couches!! That color was really stylish when I purchased them 20 years ago. And since we spent the extra money and bought quality furniture, they are in great condition. The upholstery is still great. But they are blue. And they need to go....

This is the kitchen and breakfast area. We purchased a new stove and new refridgerator. We went with black for the stove since the dishwasher was black. And we chose fake stainless for the fridge - yeah, we're cheap that way:) But it looks good! We have a new table and a new light fixture picked out. Just a matter of doing it! Eventually those boxes will be emptied too.
Before the paint job, this room was an explosion of flowers and grapes and more flowers - YUCK! Thank goodness for paint. And AB was very pleased that I brought her chair along in the move:)

This is the guest bath. Kinda small but I'm not a guest so what do I care, right?!? See if you can picture what it looked like before the paint job. Vertical striped wallpaper in primary colors. With a duck and alphabet border! What the hell was the previous owner thinking!!

This is Pita and AB's room aka the guest bedroom. Eventually the bed won't be covered with crap and all the boxes will be unpacked and the tv won't be on the floor and...

This is my office aka Dixie's bedroom. Eventually my chair won't be parked right in the middle of the room. Thank you, Vol Fan, for untangling all my cords while setting up my computer!

This is the master bedroom, where all the real action is. Boom-chicka-wha-wha!! Eventually there will be a bedskirt and blinds and a made bed and... OK, OK - I lied. There won't be a made bed. There is never a made bed. Vol Fan doesn't like getting into a made bed so he twisted my arm years ago and I stopped making the bed!
There is one huge problem. For the last 20 years, my side of the bed has always been up against the wall. Do you know what happens when you are suddenly wall-less? Yes, all your pillows fall off of the bed. Yes, you wake several times each night to retrieve them. And yes, you are jerked awake by the sensation of falling. Thankfully, I have not fallen completely off but there have been several close calls.

This is the master bath. When your previous master bath measured 3.5' by 4.5', this bathroom is freaking huge!! Eventually there will be a shower curtain and blinds and the boxes will be unpacked and...

And the master closet. I am so excited that my clothes actually get to live in my bedroom with me. In our previous house, there wasn't enough room so my clothes lived in my office and the guest bedroom. So this is awesome!!

And this is the laundry closet. No more going to the garage to wash clothes - yippee!! But alas, my washer and dryer were to big for the laundry closet doors to close. So bye-bye doors. Eventually there will be a curtain of some sort hanging there to hide them.

It's been raining so I didn't get the pictures for the exterior tour. But trust me - it's awesome!!

LOVE it, Woody... Love the openness--in the Great Room. About TV's--we have a High Def bigscreen (Sony) and love it, although it's not new. However, if you want to save money, check out one of the Vizio's at Sam's. INCREDIBLE picture and the price is right.

Your antique furniture around in certain areas is gorgeous.. Were they in your family???? I got rid of most of our old stuff--and now regret it. Oh Well!!!

You can get your sofas recovered cheaper than buying new stuff. Check it out. SEE??? I have all kinds of helpful thoughts this morning!!! ha

I laughed and laughed about making up the bed. VolFan secretly told me that he really LIKES a made-bed... Oops!!!!!

Well--looks like you two have a beautiful new home. You've really done alot already to get it all fixed up. Just think how pretty Christmas will be in it!!!!!

Thanks SO much for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

I just love it... the whole house! You cracked me up with the guest bath remark. That tub looks like one of those re-bath tubs. They just bring it in and place it over the old tub & tile.

I also agree with Suz. You washer & dryer are beautiful and they look great there...
