(Fairly) Free Vacation

When The Venetian sent us a postcard for cheap rooms, we tossed it in the trash. So they sent more postcards, offering cheap rooms. And we tossed them in the trash. Then they sent the one for which we had been waiting. Yes, we are talking free rooms!!

Combine free rooms at The Venetian with free tickets that we have earned with our Southwest Visa and you've got yourself a vacation. For free.

So what's with the 'fairly free' title, you ask?

Well if you know me, you know that I'm gonna do some exploring.

That means we are flying into Vegas and heading to Zion National Park for a few days!! I won't be able to hike The Narrows but that just gives me a good reason to return, right? So now I've got 3 weeks to plan...

I love unexpected, (fairly) free vacations!

At some point in my life I am going to try to be spontaneous. Especially if it's almost free!! Have fun, Woody! Take some pix so I can live vicariously.

You all are going to have such a great time!

I so wish I could go - but alas, it's just not in my budget. But I expect full up dates from you and GIJ!

There are so many wonderful things to do at Zion! If the weather cooperates and if you're up to a moderately strenuous hike, try Angel's Landing, which has lots of switchbacks as you go way up above the canyon bottom. The emerald pools are easier to reach and beautiful, plus the entire Zion Canyon is stunning even from the road. You can't go wrong! Have fun planning and can't wait to see your photos!

Nice. I stayed at the Venetian one night. It was a $450 room! Nice but ouch. Fairly Free is much better. We went toward Red Rocks and Death Valley. Next time I'll try Zion...

Free is best. The Venetian is good too. Vegas is a favorite of mine but not for hiking.

My trip to CA was fairly free...Free flight using miles, free room at son's and daughter's, not so free buying stuff for grandkids.

If its free, for me. That's what I always say. Although that isn't always necessarily true.
