The Land of Canyons

We woke early, ready for another day of exploring.  Today we were heading to Canyonlands National Park!  First stop was Mesa Arch.
This is the view under the arch that Vol Fan is standing on.  Yes, that is a sheer drop of about 1000 feet.  And yes, his life insurance is paid up=)
The views are of such immense proportions that it is hard to capture.  The beauty is almost overwhelming.
After going around the scenic drive to all the viewpoints, we decided to take another scenic road down into the canyons.  This, my friends, is just a portion of the road we took.
We descended over 1000 feet on a rough, 4-wheel-drive route.  We're talking hairpin turns, sheer dropoffs, and the most incredible views that I have ever seen!  This is where we sat and listened to the quiet.  Amazing!

Then it was back to camp to enjoy leftovers from Pasta Jay's for dinner!

This is just beautiful...I would be sick though over the heights. Never could I drive on that road.
Glad you had fun.

Wow---what gorgeous beauty, Woody.... Our Prius (which is NOT 4-wheel drive) has taken us on those types of roads many times--searching for waterfalls...

Love that one of VolFan standing on top.... WOW!!!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful 4th.
Hugs,
Betsy
