Yesterday, my friend Betsey commented on Vol Fan's dimple. He actually has two dimples in that cheek and there is quite a story behind them...
Growing up, Vol Fan and his older brother, Harley Rider, were full-on, hardcore boys. The kind that fought. The kind that did dangerous things. The kind that came home bleeding. You get the picture. I always feel sorry for their Mom when they start reminiscing. Oh to be the mother of those 2!!
One afternoon, they thought it would be fun to sword fight. So they found the perfect sticks, sharpened the ends, and engaged in battle.
And the battle was fierce. So fierce in fact that Harley Rider impaled Vol Fan's cheek on his two-prong sword. It went all the way through Vol Fan's cheek and was stopped only by hitting his teeth on the far side of his mouth. And that is how Vol Fan got his dimples.
He also has a BB in his hiney but that is a story for another time:)

I hope the attention those dimples garnered him was worth the pain. Boys are unique creatures, aren't they?
Holy Cow ---and here I was thinking that he was born with that cute little dimple (or both of them)....
I raised three boys---but luckily, they didn't fight -or try to 'kill' one another... BUT--they were boys and we had our share of 'situations' to deal with....
Poor VF's mom... Bet she had her share of 'situations'... ha

Boys and their swords. They can't brandish them about without something or somebody meeting the business end, and not in a good way. But what great stories they always make. ;-)
