Accents

Apparently, I have a bit of a Southern twang in my speech.  And apparently, when I am away from the South, it is noticable.  I cannot begin to tell you how many times people have asked where I picked up "that accent".  Or where I am from because you "aren't from around here".  And I always smile and answer honestly.  Tennessee.  Born and bred.

So I have decided to shake things up a bit.  When someone asks about the accent, I'm going to tell a small fib.

"I'm from Boston"  or "I grew up in Australia"

Oh the reactions I'm going to get!  Maybe I'll start putting it on a little thicker to get more people to ask.

I. Can. Not. Wait.

LOL You are too funny. You will have to report back to us what happens...I am sure you will have some funny stories to share.

I love accents..supposedly I have a very heavy Minnesota accent...where ever I go people will ask "Are you from Minnesota?" LOL

I've done that before...

Spent the week in Boston once, after a while the "Where are you froms" got old and my response to them would be a deadpan "Vermont".

The look on their faces is totally priceless...

Great idea!
Every time I talk to someone, they ask where I'm from.
And when I say Chicago, they always say, 'no! you sound French or Brazilian.'
Every. Time.
So why shouldn't I be lying anyway if they already don't believe me!?
Perfect.
From now on, we are both from an aborigine tribe deep in the Australian bush. Done.
