I Don't Want To Die

Last Saturday, Pita and AB's grandmother, Tootsie, had what the ER labelled as a 'minor heart episode'.  She was given the basic ER treatment - they drew some blood, saw that her heart rate was normal, charged a bazillion dollars, and told to follow up with her doctor.

On Tuesday morning, the results from the blood work came back.  The cardiologist that had been given her results called and said to get to the hospital NOW!

So Tootsie and Pop dashed off to Vanderbilt.  By Tuesday afternoon, Tootsie was in surgery, having a stint put in.

When the doctor met with Prima Ballerina and the rest of the family, they were given the shock of their lifetime.  Tootsie had suffered a massive heart attack - in an area that usually results in immediate death.  She had a blockage of 99% and he said it was a miracle that she was alive!

I am very thankful that Tootsie is a walking miracle.  I am very thankful that Prima Ballerina still has her mother.  I am very thankful that Pita and AB still have their grandmother.

This has caused me to do some soul searching this evening.

If Tootsie (the fit, slim, active yoga instructor!) had a heart attack, do I even stand a chance?

Wow, what a scare. It is too bad the DR had to wait so long to see the results, but glad he knew what to do. I think that when God calls your name, it doesn't matter what you are doing, or have been doing. We just need to be ready.

Oh my gosh...I am so happy she is ok.
We just never know who it is going to strike.

Sometimes we never know... My advice is to take good care of yourself, get a physical every year, don't ignore any symptoms --even little ones...

We never know what our bodies will do... It's because Tootsie was as fit as possible ---or else, she definitely wouldn't be here now...

I'm glad she is okay... Praise God.
Hugs,
Betsy

So glad this had a happy ending.

I think genetics play a bigger role than we sometimes want to admit. Although a dozen cheeseburgers a day probably aren't the best idea ;)

Two of my grandparents have lived very long lives, but two not so long. Which ones will I take after? Sometimes it probably is best not to know, and just try to appreciate every day.

In the early stages of aging I resisted change with all my might. Then, common sense kicked in & I jumped on the fine-I'll-get-healthy bandwagon. It's not nearly as dull as I thought it would be... considering the alternative is death.
