To Bake Or Not To Bake

One thing about being on the road is that some holidays just seem to slip by with little fanfare.  As we head toward Thanksgiving, we have been waffling on whether to prepare 'the big meal' or not.  Vol Fan says why bother.  But I have been leaning toward doing something, anything.  Maybe not the whole traditional shebang (cuz' I am truly not a big fan of Thanksgiving fare).  But something.

We contemplated going to Vegas.  But decided that no one really had the cash for that!

We contemplated going to Yosemite.  But seems that I was the only one that was really contemplating that.

We contemplated going skiing at Lake Tahoe.  But decided that no one really had the cash for that.

We contemplated going camping.  But, again, it seems that I was the only one contemplating that.

So we have decided to do a 'mini meal' on Thanksgiving.  Chris, a fellow co-worker from Tullahoma, will be joining us.  So turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese (for me!), veggie casserole (for Vol Fan!).  Probably beer for dessert:)  We are classy like that!

And to round out our holiday weekend -- as long as the weather doesn't scrub the mission -- we will be having Vol Fan's birthday adventure!

I love it! There were quite a few years that I did either nothing or work on Thanksgiving. If I did nothing, I got a 4 cheese pizza, my favorite snacks, some beer and wine and some good movies, pulled all the curtian shut and completely vegged out. It was the best of times I tell ya. :) Nothing like beer for dessert. :)
So excited to hear about Vol Fans birthday adventure!

Jason, as himself said...

We are a family of Italians, Mexicans, and Americans. And we're ordering Chinese for Thanksgiving.

We are having the traditional Thanksgiving feast. There will be all the kids (we total 20 now), and my sis and her son and family. There will be 25 around the table.

Went shopping today...spent $350, and that didn't include the turkey or ham.

Sounds like a perfect plan to me... We do a turkey breast here too --when there's nobody but us.

Happy Thanksgiving to you... Hope you have a great day/week.. After tomorrow, I'm taking some time off from blogging.

God Bless You.
Hugs,
Betsy

I hate when I'm the only one contemplating something. Can't people just read my mind and get with it? Geeesh.

Have fun! Mac and Cheeeeeese!
