When You Should Learn To Read The Signs And Call It Quits (Part 2)

The beginning of the story is here....

If you know anything about travel from Ventura to Joshua Tree National Park, you know that you have to drive thru Los Angeles.  And driving through Los Angeles is not the most fun thing in the world.  But we bit the bullet and decided to take the most direct route - the 101 to the 134 to the 210 to 57 to 71 to 60 to the 10 and we're out of LA.  See, easy peasy!!

And it was easy peasy.  Until we reached 71 in Pomona.  Our nice little GPS lady forgot to mention that the "Chino Valley Freeway"  isn't exactly what one would expect of a freeway.  Yet.  Yes, my friends,  construction and red light hell!  And then the ramp from 71 to 60 was closed.  Yes, closed.  No detour signs.  No turn here to return to 71 signs.  No turn here to get to 60 signs.  Yes, even after the "Chino Valley Freeway" incident, we were ever so thankful for our GPS lady.

Finally, we made it through Los Angeles and soon enough we were in the town of Joshua Tree.  It was pushing noon.  So we decided to grab a quick bite to eat before heading into the park.  We chose McDonalds.  Not my favorite place but it was quick and it was located near the grocery so we could grab some last minute supplies before our camping extravaganza.

Did you hear the ominous music begin when I mentioned McDonalds?

Our lunch arrived and we began eating.  About halfway through the meal, I saw it.  Yes, you guessed it.  There was a HAIR in my fries.

And lunch was over.

So after a quick run to the grocery, we headed to Joshua Tree National Park.  We had visions of our perfect peaceful campsite amid the boulders and joshua trees.  And maybe, just maybe, a bighorn sheep would be spotted in the distance.

Apparently the whole rest of the state of California (and a little bit of Arizona) had the exact same thought.  Every campsite in the park was already taken for the weekend.

To be continued......

Oh goodness...your experiences at both of these eating places is exactly one of the reasons we don't go out to eat...other than we can't really afford to...lol...I'm almost afraid to hear what is going to happen next...I want you to know that I have missed visiting you here.
