A Perfect Anniversary Celebration - And It Was Free!

On Saturday, Vol Fan and I woke to find that we were both feeling much better from the bug that has been draining us all week.  So after breakfast, we took a leisurely drive to Los Angeles - to Hollywood Park.  We were going to play the ponies!
We don't have a clue as to the who/what/where/why of horse racing and betting.  So I picked a type of bet and stuck with it on every race.  I bet $1 Trifecta Box, meaning I picked 3 horses that I thought would come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  Since I 'boxed' the bet, they could place in any order.  This bet cost me $6 per race.
Vol Fan was all about some research.  He read the The Daily Race Report - getting the scoop on the horses, jockeys, trainers, etc.  And his betting was a wide array of things - Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta, etc along with some bets on certain horses to win....  Lots of stuff!

So we cheered.  We shouted.  It was SO much fun!

After the races, we went to Baby Blues BBQ for dinner.  I had heard about it on The Travel Channel.  On our travels, Vol Fan is always on the search for good BBQ ribs.  I will write a little more about this place tomorrow.  But let's just say that this place good!

On our drive back home, we were on the Pacific Coast Highway.  Just as we were leaving Malibu, we saw some activity in the ocean.  So we turned around to see what it was.  There was a group of 3-4 dolphin feeding in a small cove.  Not only were they feeding but they were having a jolly good time while doing it.  They were doing jumps like you would see at SeaWorld.  A perfect end to the day!

So how, after $100 worth of gambling/lunch at the track/ dinner out, was all this for free?  Woody hit a Trifecta and won $300!!
