Playing Catch Up

On Memorial Day weekend, Vol Fan and I left the dust of California and headed to the green hills of Tennessee.  I was hoping for a meandering trip.  Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way.

We both ended up having to drive a vehicle with Vol Fan towing a loaded goose-neck trailer.  So there really wasn't the opportunity to explore.  However we did make a couple of fun stops along I-40.

We stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.  Silly but so much fun!  Something every fan of The Eagles should do.
We stopped at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo.  [Where I realized that my camera really, really needed to visit the camera doctor for a good cleaning!!]
And had dinner at The Big Texan in Amarillo, home of the 72oz steak challenge.  We were not up for the challenge but several were and one actually finished!  It is a real cheesy place but oh so much fun.  We were even serenaded by a musical trio.  I requested 'Waltz Across Texas':)
We stopped for lunch in Oklahoma City at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar And Grill.  There is a nice downtown park near the restaurant which we enjoyed walking in to stretch our legs.
And before you knew it, we were home.

OMG! Had I known you were in Texas, I swear I would have driven up to see you (even though it's like a 6 -7 hour drive from here)!

And, standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. What a fine sight to see... I am truly jealous now.

Furthermore, one of our best friends has actually eaten that 72 oz. steak. Sadly, he blew it everywhere before he could make it out the door, LOL!

I recognize all of these places.... Taking a break off of I-40 is SO nice, isn't it??????

We had lunch with a friend at Amarillo --so we didn't get to visit the other places in that area.

I'd love to go to Toby Keith's place sometime. We saw the sign in Okla. City --but didn't stop there. Need to go back!!!!

I know you are thrilled to get HOME for awhile.
Hugs,
Betsy

How do you find all this stuff? I travel the 10 and 40 through the desert all the time and the only thing I found was a huge roadrunner. Oh, and yeah, I've done the corner in Winslow AZ!

You two are a kick!

You make everything fun. I am trying to imagine how big a 72 ounce steak is. What do you get if you finish it all? Besides a belly ache? : )
