People often ask if we miss home since we are on the road so much of the time. Our answer isn't a straight-forward one.
One side of the answer is yes. We miss seeing our family. We miss seeing our friends. We miss the simple things that being home entails - having a garden, mowing the yard, etc. Simple tasks. Yes, we miss all of that.
But the other side - and the larger side - is no. We don't miss home because we are home. No matter where we are, as long as we are together - we are home. Home isn't tied to a locale for us. It is tied to the other person. And sometimes that logic is hard for people to understand, hard for us to explain.
Vol Fan is a country music fan. A few weeks ago - as we were travelling to our campsite in New Mexico, a song came on the radio. He turned it up and said "This song is us." And he was right.
The song is called 'Anywhere With You' by Jake Owen. The chorus goes like this...
I'll go anywhere.
West Virginia, baby, I don't care.
Mexico on a wild hair.
Have you ever seen California?
Pick a spot on any old map.
I travel light and my bags are packed.
Just as long as I'm where you're at
I'm gonna have a real good view.
I'll go anywhere, anywhere with you.
Yep, it's us. :)

Love it, Lori. That is what love, life and relationships are all about.... None of the material things in the world can take the place of that special person we share our lives with...
Love that song.
Hugs,
Betsy
I wonder if that's what Emma barks to me at night before we go to bed? :)
I'll have to keep on the lookout for this song. The lyrics are great, and if that's your theme, you are a very fortunate couple.
The perfect answer!
