Tennessee Aquarium

Last weekend, The Boss Man and Prima Ballerina attended A Night Of Hope Gala in Atlanta.  It is a charity event that sponsors ALS research.  ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.  They attend the gala each year with several friends.  The father of one of their friends has ALS and has long been a supporter of this event.  Since Aunt Woody was in town to care for AB and Pita, they made a weekend of it.

While I am sure they had fun, the girls and I had a FABULOUS weekend!

We started the weekend by going to Chattanooga and visiting the Tennessee Aquarium.  Poppy and the clan decided to come along since Weezy was on Fall Break.  College Girl was on Fall Break as well so she joined the fun!  And since Soccer Boy goes to college at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, he joined us for lunch:)

If you are ever in the Chattanooga area, you should make some time to visit the Tennessee Aquarium.  It is a great place to spend the afternoon.  The downtown area has undergone a real transformation since the aquarium was built - with lots of shops and restaurants to visit.

The Aquarium is divided into two sections - Rivers and Oceans.  The River section is the original portion that was built in the 1990s.  It's main thrust is displaying the diversity of life in the rivers of the world.  Everything from alligators in the bayous of Louisiana to sturgeon from the rivers of Russia to piranha from the Amazon basin.  The Ocean section is newer.  I'm not sure when it was built but definitely since my last visit about 10 years or so ago.  It houses penguins and sharks and stingrays and sea turtles and jellyfish and tuna and everything in between.

This is a slideshow of photos from our day.  Enjoy!

I'm glad you had a great time at the Tennessee Aquarium. We've always heard that this is a marvelous place to visit, but we haven't made it yet.
