I have been taking Dixie for a walk every evening on the greenway. There is a great 2 mile loop right out my back door - 2 miles is the best walk length for Dixie, anything longer and she gets slower and slower until I'm almost having to drag her.
So last night was perfect for a walk. We had already had supper and it was cooling down nicely. So I suggested to Vol Fan that he accompany us on our walk. (And by suggest, I mean nag, badger, fuss, carp, bully, harass, plague, etc.) Well, Vol Fan didn't want to go and so after much suggesting, Dixie and I left on our walk. It was a good thing he didn't go - or it would have closely resembled "The Everglades Incident of 2006". But that is a whole other story.....
Anyway, Dixie and I left for our walk. Now the direction we walk at the start puts us facing east, thus backs to the west (which is always the direction weather moves in from but I'm getting ahead of myself). So we were walking, enjoying the relative emptyness of the greenway, smelling the honeysuckle, listening to the birds, sniffing poo (well, that was Dixie and not me!), etc. All in all, having a very nice walk.
Our walk takes us in a loop which when we reach the top of that loop, we are the farthest from home that we ever get on our walks. So literally we could not have been farther from home.
So once we reached the top of the loop and made the turn heading back home, low and behold a storm had moved in. Now it was a really, really dark cloud. So I picked up the pace a little in order to get home before the rain. But not really worried...And at the exact moment that thought crossed my mind, lightning. Not just harmless little flashes in the sky. No this was sending streaks straight down to the ground. So I picked up the pace a little more and started counting to gauge how far away the storm was. I reached 30 so I relaxed a little...
At that very moment, the rain started. And, of course, I was wearing a white t-shirt. Great. Now I'm not only going to get wet but I will give any other idiot out for a walk a show (well, not that big a show, I was wearing a bra - but still!!) So we walked, trying to hurry in order to not get absolutely soaked. At that very moment, the rain started coming harder. And then more lightning. So I ran. (Did you know that running jars yours shoulders? Did you know that jarring your shoulder hurts (a lot) when you are still trying to recover from shoulder surgery?) But I ran - I really don't relish the idea of being struck by lightning!!
By the time, I made it home the lightning count was at 3! And, Vol Fan had seen the storm and had gotten a towel out for me. And he had started watching for me and watching the approaching storm. It got bad enough that he had gotten in his truck and was going to drive down the greenway to rescue me. So, let's just say that Vol Fan was glad he had not gone with us!

Glad you're OK! I've provided uninterested spectators with more of me than anyone needs to see during rainstorms (I don't wear a bra).
