Well, actually it was Sunday but I couldn't come up with a catchy title. So Monday it is....
Vol Fan and I are not exactly avid movie-goers. We will go on occasion - like once or twice a year. So yesterday was a bit out of the ordinary. We went to see 2 movies!! It was a little on the dreary side and we had been out late Saturday night like 1 AM (Yes - we are party animals!!) so we didn't really feel like doing a whole lot of anything. So we threw on some clothes and went to the local mega-movie place!
First, we saw WALL-E, the new Pixar movie. So here's the review: While WALL-E was cute and there were funny parts, I can't see it keeping the attention of smaller children, say under 5. For the older ones, it had a good message about taking care of the earth and taking care of your own health. Yes, it stepped on my toes as my fat self sat and ate my gigantic bucket of popcorn!!!
Then, we went to see Get Smart. Review: If you were a fan (even a little) of the show, go see this movie!! It was very well done in keeping with the spirit of the show!! Plus it was just a lot of fun! Steve Carell was perfect for the role!
After the show, we went to Smoky Mountain Brewery for dinner, which I would highly recommend. Then back to the apartments for a rousing game of volleyball. More on that tomorrow...

I love the movies, no one ever wants to go with me so I end up renting them.

Thanks for the reviews! We do Netflix now so we rarely go to the theatre...but I miss it and for some films it's worth seeing it on the big screen. We may break down and see the new Indiana Jones...have you seen that one?
We want to see both of those movies! I especially want to see Get Smart! It looks SO hilarious! Thanks for the reviews!
Ive been wanting to see Wall-E...it looks really cute. None of my friends want to go see a kids movie...so I cleverly decided I would take my godson this weekend. "I already saw it" he told me...so now I have to take him to something about penguins.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Get Smart. I LOVE Steve Carell, but other than The Office and 40-Year-Old Virgin, he hasn't picked great projects.
I don't usually laugh out loud at movies, even when something really tickles me, but that scene with the swordfish? (no spoilers) I was howling.

#1 - We're usually too cheap to go or to rent and wait for it on cable...
Cool Broad - I have always wondered about Netflix - heard you can get blacklisted?? Nah, we haven't made it to see Indy - maybe it will be rainy next weekend too.
Corinne - I would highly recommend Get Smart. Get a sitter and have a date night!!
VV - I usually take my nieces but no nieces were around. I can imagine what the lady at the box office thought when we got 2 adult tickets only for Wall-E. Didn't know there was currently a penguin flick out??
JD - I enjoyed him in Little Miss Sunshine, too. The swordfish scene made me snort some of my popcorn!!
silly me...it was a Kung Fu Panda, not a Penguin.
VV - Pandas, penguins. Easily confused, no??
