Crazy Days

The past few days (and the next few days) have been crazy. It all started last Thursday....

The Vol Fan is really sensitive about his belly button. No touching allowed! He doesn't even like to watch me touch my belly button. Last Thursday, he said that his belly button felt funny - not really a pain, more of a tingle. So I'm thinking it was just something with his weird belly button affliction. Then he noticed some blood in it. I thought he just he had a little cut. No big deal, right?

Since we are on the road, we are away from our family doctor. But he is a great guy - let's us call him at home, etc. They don't make doctors like that anymore!! So on Friday we called him and told him what was up. He said, "Find a doctor. Today. If you can't find one, go to the Emergency Room."

So we went to a walk-in clinic and that doctor told him he had an infection in his belly button. Who the hell has ever heard of an infected belly button?? He gave us some antibiotic cream and told him to lay out of work for a few days.

Come Monday, he wasn't any better - a little worse, if anything. So we called our doctor back and he said to come on in if we could. So we took off on the 3-hour drive home to make it to our 3:15 appointment. He told Vol Fan that yes, he did have an infected belly button but it was from a small cut in there. Since it is dark and damp in there, it is the perfect place for bacteria to grow. And grow it did. And it had done what the doctor was afraid of in the first place - it had migrated inside. Now Vol Fan is on oral antibiotics and has been told to take it easy and to try and keep his belly button dry, which is easier said than done!

We decided to spend the night at home. I got in a very productive afternoon pulling weeds. Weeds tend to take over the flower beds when there is no one around to weed for, oh, 3 or 4 months!!

This (Tuesday) morning we went and met with my brother, the boss. While there, a job popped up and it was decided that Vol Fan is leaving for West Palm Beach tomorrow. So we hopped back in the car for the 3-hour drive back to Knoxville to get him packed. I am packing up the remainder of our crap and taking it back home.

I will be there for a couple of days and then I am going to Mississippi to visit my crazy aunts. But they are a whole post unto themselves. Then we are moving to Orlando for about 4-6 weeks for a job we will be doing there. My posts will probably be spotty at best over the next couple of weeks. But, speaking of Orlando, does anyone have any advice for scoring cheap tickets to any of the theme parks??

Thus is the nature of our business. People will constantly ask "Where are you headed next?". My only answer is that I don't know. Because I don't know - I usually have an idea but nothing concrete and then Boom! We have to move. It's all about being flexible.

Isn't it ironic that a man who has a belly button aversion is forced to apply a topical ointment to that very spot??? I hope he will feel better soon.

Be safe in your travels. Can't wait to hear about the crazy aunts!

YIKES!! I hope this isn't related to Karma in anyway? :-) I'm so jealous on the Orlando thing! We don't go until October! You need to go to UnderCoverTourist.com for cheap tickets! I am THE planner when we go to Orlando so just let me know if you need any info on Disney, I'd be glad to help you out!! Be Safe and Have Fun and most importantly keep the belly button dry!!

Reading this, I thought Russell herniated himself. Hope he gets well soon.

I saw The Commodores in Atlantic City last spring. THEY WERE AWESOME! I didn't really miss Lionel too much. If I hadn't already gone to their concert, they would have made my list along with EWF!

Can't wait to hear your story :)

You could always slow it down a bit with two of my faves: "That's The Way Of The World" and "After The Love Is Gone"!!! Good times:)
