It Runs in the Family!

Some of you may remember my experience with setting the toilet on fire. Apparently, the ability to set fire to random things on fire runs in the family.

My brother, The Boss Man, came to Orlando to check on the status of the job and last night over drinks, he related this story.

Last weekend he and a group of friends went to the Tennessee Titans game in Nashville. They arrived at the stadium in plenty of time to tailgate - complete with lunch off of the grill. When the time came (around 12:15pm) to go into the stadium, they realized that the charcoal was still hot. So they placed the lid on the grill and put it in the bed of Boss Man's truck. And didn't give it another thought!

After the game, they decided that the bars on Broadway really needed to be visited. Several hours later (about 9:00pm), they drove to one of the guys' house in Nashville where they were all planning on crashing for the night.

About an hour later, there was a frantic knock at the door. It was the next-door neighbor saying, "Somebody's truck is on fire in your driveway!!!"

They didn't have a hose. So Boss Man got a bucket, filled it at the kitchen sink, and ran to throw the water into the truck bed. The others grabbed large cups, filled them at the sink, and ran to throw them onto the fire.

I picture the scene like something from a cartoon. Several drunk adults, with cups of water, running in and out of the house. After throwing their lame cupful of water on the fire, they stop for a second, seemingly confused that it didn't put the fire out!!

The story has a good ending. They were able to put the fire out. The fire did not reach the plastic container of lighter fluid that was in the bed. The fire did not reach the gas tank and did not do damage to anything but the bed liner. Apparently those things are flammable!

Sounds like a story from Race Day in Richmond!!! It's really a shame you don't have this on video. It would certainly be a hit on YouTube!!! hahahaha!

Glad there wasn't more damage. It could have gotten ugly...

Loved your 9/11 comment on my site. I had those exact same feelings. Still do. Just wish people would continue to be nice to one another.

Grown, drunk men with their little cups. Hilarious..I would love to have witnessed that.
It must be a family thing. What's funny is, it's not even like you are aware of the possibility of this happening.
