New Year's Shopping Trip

On New Year's Day, Vol Fan and I got up at the crack of dawn. Seriously, like 6am! We got up so early for one thing - REI's quarterly scratch and dent sale at their Nashville store.

REI has a very generous return policy. And because of this, they end up with lots of stuff that is really good stuff but it is not in a condition that it can be re-shelved and sold as new. Thus the scratch and dent sale.

You absolutely never know what you might find. People actually camp out to be the first people inside for these sales!

One guy told us that he was one of the 1st 10 people in and that he had been at the store since 1am. The doors didn't open until 8am! But he snagged an awesome sleeping bag - a $350 Marmot bag for $100!!

Vol Fan was able to get a $120 pair of Merrell boots for $60. The look like they have been worn maybe twice!

I got this cute Dakine hat! And, yes, my bed is unmade. What of it?
I snagged this $70 Tilley hat for $20. Tilley hats are great. They are washable, packable, breathable, and waterproof. They float and are literally guaranteed to NEVER wear out. So now I am ready for safari!
I also picked up this wonderful pair of Vasque trail runners for $35. They retail for $110!
I just love a bargain - especially when it's at my favorite store!!!

You look adorable in those hats. I'm not much on outdoor apparel, but those bargains make me want to go get outfitted.

I see you got a new training bike too. That's right I'm watching you like a hawk!

After mass today, I'm off to buy a scale. I never owned one because I never gained weight until a couple of years ago, now I'm going to give dieting a serious whirl over at Big Hair Envy's.

Hey Woody---You must have gotten some great bargains. I'm not sure I'd ever stand or wait in line for hours and hours for ANY bargains.. But--I'm not much of a shopper..

I finally figured out that you are the wife and Vol Fan is the hubby... Well-DUH... I had it backwards in my OLD mind. Sorry!!! (Need to read more closely!!! ha ha)

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Nothing makes me happier than a good bargain. Looks like fun...I have never heard of those stores before...suppose they don't sell much of the sand buckets, bathing suits and flip flops?
Take care,
suz

I love a deal too! My CdubbleU has a Tilley. He has had it for years now and it looks brand new everytime I wash it.

I love sales like that and you two did great! Last year I went to the New Year's Day sale @ Dillard's and got a ton of stuff for under $150. I bought 6 gold foiled glass chargers that I use under our holiday plates for $2 each, some new clothes and a robe for 75% off. I love a good bargain too, but how do you get the hubby to go with you? Mine would never go but especially NOT when football is on TV, lol.

I am a BIG fan of the bargain. However, I prefer to go the the Williamsburg Outlet Mall and hit up Liz Claiborne....they don't open until 10 a.m.!!!
