Happy Anniversary to Me

Exactly one year ago today, I entered the blogosphere. I thought that mainly I was recording memories for myself. I never expected to meet some of the most wonderful people EVER!! Thanks for making my days brighter!

So as a reward, we will be taking a trip to the islands. Warm sun, white sand, cool drinks - come join me! I'll be in the hammock.....

Woody, We were at Rutledge Falls about 11:30 and Machine about 12:30 I think... We loved all of the trails in the Machine Falls area (Short Springs State Natural Area).. We took the loop around Machine Falls--going down on the left side and we crossed the bridge and went up and around the loop coming back, stopping at that overlook above also. When we got to Machine---there were no other cars there. When we left, there were LOTS of cars.

The only people we saw were one heavy-set man by himself, a guy with a dog, and a man with a little girl. We did not go to Bobo or to Adams Falls this trip--but want to go back. We were thrilled with those trails and the work someone has done to keep them in great shape. George's blog tomorrow will talk about that place. The man we met on the trail took our picture on that little bridge.

There was a HUGE (I mean HUGE) bird in the loop area on our way out... I have no idea what it was but it honked while in the air --like geese do. However, his honk was raspy and he didn't look like a goose. Have you seen him---or one like him in those woods???? I have no idea what he was --unless he was an Osprey.

Rutledge was where all of the Cedar Waxwings were. I got SO excited. What's the story behind that statue????

I thought you were gone to be with VolFan--so that's why I didn't say anything about us being in your area.

Have you seen the other waterfalls in your area which we saw on Saturday (Baker Falls--my blog tomorrow, Ledford Mills Falls and the other one next to it (which we named Pond Falls), and then Wetumpka Falls. That B&B is neat in that area ---and there's alot of history about that old mill. I'm sure you know all about this stuff.

We've been to Old Stone Fort---in August of 2006 I think.. We saw several waterfalls in that area. It is gorgeous--with alot of history also.

I wanted to email you all of this--but don't have your email...

Hugs,
Betsy
