The Joy of Bedtime

Tonight as I was trying to head the girls off to bed, Pita was testing her limits. Last night, I let her watch a video in bed which had the effect of keeping her up and thus she was not her sunshiny self today.

Between AB throwing a fit because she wanted Pita's blueberries (she didn't want her own, she wanted Pita's), Pita arguing with every word that came out of my mouth, and Juno making me chase her around the yard to get her back into the crate, I was just about at my wits end - even resorting to the dreaded "1.....2.....".

I had finally gotten AB in bed with her passy, silky pillow, and silky blanket. Juno was finally fed, watered, walked, and back in her crate. Pita had finally selected the outfit for the Valentine party at her school tomorrow. And the light was just right. And the music was just right. And her covers were just right.

I went into the bedroom to change into my pjs. After changing, I was headed downstairs to put Pita's tights in the dryer that she just absolutely had to have for the party. I glanced into her room. She was starting to sit up so I dashed a little further down the stairs so she would not see me and so I could see what was going on.

She sat up in bed, folded her hands, and said, "God, thank you for all of the beautiful sky. And my beautiful bed. And thank you for letting my Mom name me Pita. And tell Bear and Hayley that I miss them. And tell my Grandma that is in heaven that I love her. You are the best God and the best Jesus in the whole world. And I love you. Amen."

And all the frustrations of bedtime just melt away.....

Outta the mouth of babes!!!! OH--just made you melt, Woody, didn't she????

As frustrated as you get, just remember that they are young such a short time. SO---relax and enjoy them, Auntie!!!!

Hope tomorrow goes well.
Hugs,
Betsy
