Yesterday, my sister, The Manager, and her husband, Rooster, found out that he has prostate cancer. He is having tests today to see if it has spread beyond the prostate.

I have tried to write this post many, many times. Blogging has been so helpful to me - getting all my emotions out.

But these emotions are still locked up tight behind the dam. Hopefully it will burst soon.

I want to scoop them up and make everything better. I feel so helpless.

I can see how you feel helpless. But you can be there for them...when and if they need you.
The good thing is...and yes, you have to find a silver lining...prostrate cancer is very common. The medical field has come along way in treating this cancer. He may have to go through some rough stuff...but he will get through it.
My Uncle had it a few years ago as well as a good friend of ours (only 42) they both came through with flying colors....

Remember we are here when (or if) the dam breaks.

My gosh,
Cancer is such a cruel disease.
A good thought to keep in your heart would be Lance Armstrong who recovered from testicular cancer and won multiple tour de frances.

I am so sorry my friend. I have already said a prayer for them and the doctors and you of course. I am sending you hugs right now and please remember that when you need to talk we are here to listen. Once the shock wears off, you will find the strength you need to support them through this. Sending you lots of hugs and love, Lori

oh honey I am so sorry...I am sending big hugs to all of you.

As Suz touched on, if it gives you any glimmer of sunshine, this form of cancer is fairly common, and remission rates are among the highest. I know three guys off the top of my head who have gotten this same diagnosis, and every one of them is just fine now. Keep us posted, and keep your chin up!

The dreaded C word. I'm glad to hear from the other commenters that prostate cancer is highly treatable.

But when will this madness end?

I hope it turns out to be an early stage. I'm saying a prayer for him and all your family. It's good to hear so many people say positive things about beating it.
