The Day I Traumatized My Nieces

So there we were - innocently driving home. Just me, Pita, and AB. And as we were making a left turn at the red light, I noticed the oncoming car pull off to the shoulder. I wondered what in the world he was doing. And continued on my way.

And that's when I saw it. Blue lights.

And they were after me!!

So I pulled over. And that's when the fun began!

The girls asked why we were pulled over and I told them that we were being stopped by the police. So they immediately started wailing. And by wailing, I mean WAILING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS! Saying things like "I don't want to get caught" and "I don't want to go to jail"!!

But the good thing? Children crying at the top of their lungs = pity from the police officer which leads to only getting a warning to slow it down!

HA! My kind of girls. The last time I got stopped for speeding I cried too, and the cop took pity!

I have a similar memory...and can still hear my kids crying to the officer, "please don't take my momma to jail!"

Great post and although I am sure it was not funny at the time...it did make me laugh to hear it described by you!

Well---sometimes we ALL need to be told to SLOW down. Recently George (who NEVER speeds---gads) didn't realize he was in a school zone. SO--he sped right through it. Luckily though, there were no cops around that day. IF I had have been driving, I would have gotten caught. Oh Well.
Hugs,
Betsy

Trust me - in a year or so (maybe even less) this will be such a HUGE story for them to tell. "Remember when Auntie got pulled over????" OMG, I was scared (and when they are older) O. M. G. - that was so cool!

Been there. Done that. My kids got me out of more tickets over the years & I swear I didn't train them to cry on cue. I'll bet you didn't have to train the nieces either... But, you did give them a good story to tell, if they remember it, lol.

LOL! This is too funny. Pays to hang out with some drama queens huh? Not that I think it's funny they were crying and scared but it sure did come in handy!

I heard an interview with a police officer and he said one way to avoid a ticket is to have small children in the car with you, lol. I guess that works!

I'm sorry, I had to laugh just picturing it. Thank God you got out of it. A lot of people are getting pulled over the last few weeks!
