We were up and at 'em before the chickens. Well, not exactly before the chickens but pretty darn early for four people that like to sleep late! And within an hour of getting on the road, we were at our first stop - Ft. Smith National Historic Site. Ft. Smith was a frontier fort and where Judge Isaac C. Parker presided. Judge Parker was a 'hanging judge'!
Ft. Smith seems like a cool town. The downtown area had many restaurants and shops and a great park with an amphitheater along the river. It begged for some exploring so we took a short ride on the trolley!
Soon enough, we were back on the road and in Oklahoma!
Our next stop was a somber one - Oklahoma City National Memorial. I was a little leery of visiting this memorial - afraid that it would be cheesy, disrespectful. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very tastefully done - truly done to honor those lives that were lost that day. It was a place that caused all who entered to talk a little quieter, to reflect, to think deeply about your life.
And then we were back on the road, loving the wind farms and wide open skies.
Soon enough, we were in Texas!
Our stop for the evening was Shamrock, Texas. Oh what fun we had in Shamrock......

We love windfarms, too. Couldn't get enough of them last summer. Then I met a guy who manages them here for our state government. His love for the windfarms was ...um... a little unnatural.

Welcome to Texas! Glad you got to see the OKC Memorial. It's very sobering, isn't it? My grandparents dry cleaners had been located caddy corner to the FBI building but was destroyed along with everything in a 3 block radius.
I love wind farms too. Just outside of Phoenix there are gazillions of them all the way to California. It's really a sight to see...
