Plans

On Wednesday, my aunt Glenna is coming out for a visit.  I am looking forward to having a partner in crime.  Some of our plans:

• Get invited to 'Come on down'!  Yes, I have tickets to The Price Is Right!
• Visit King's Canyon National Park.  It is the other 'half' of Sequoia National Park.  So its full of huge trees and beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  Plus I need to get a park stamp:)
• Visit Pinnacles National Monument.  It is the remains of an ancient volcano so there are rocks to climb and caves to explore.  Plus a colony of big-eared bats.  Plus I need to get a park stamp:)
• Find some butterflies.  In November, Monarch butterflies arrive for winter.  There are numerous groves of eucalyptus trees where they stay.  Some colonies number over 100,000!!
• Visit the Kelso Dunes in the Mojave Desert.  The Kelso Dunes are known for a unique phenomena - when conditions are right, you can climb the dunes sending sand cascading down in your wake and it will make a rumbling noise.  That's why these dunes are known as 'singing dunes'.
• Drive a portion of Route 66.
• Visit a ghost town.  Deciding between a 'restored' ghost town (like Calico) or a true ghost town where there is nothing but ghosts.
• Explore Mulholland Drive with a list of celebrity addresses.  Stalk much?
• Go on a studio tour.  Maybe we will get discovered.
• Pay our respects to Marilyn Monroe (and many others) at Westwood Memorial Park.
• See the dinosaurs at La Brea Tar Pits.
• Visit The Huntington Library Botanical Gardens.
• Visit The Getty Center and Villa.
• Explore Sunset Boulevard and Rodeo Drive.
• Shop at the Santa Barbara Art Walk.
• Visit a vineyard. Or twelve.

I wonder if we will have time to sleep.
