Rambles

Vol Fan and I are still on the job in Gray, Georgia.  You know the job.  The one that was supposed to be over by the 1st of June, mid-June at the latest.  Yeah, that one.  Since it was supposed to be such a short-lived project, we did not rent an apartment or condo and went the hotel route.  Hotel living has its own set of challenges but we have managed pretty well.  We have a pool.  Maid service.  And free wifi.

That is, we DID have free wifi.  Their wifi network has gone bonkers and I can only access it from the lobby.  Since I don't want to spend my life in the lobby, I only access the internet when I absolutely have to.  Maybe the internet thought I enjoyed my Olympic time away a little too much and is getting back at me.  But whatever - I've got internet-free time on my hands.

So I've decided to tackle a project.

Over the years of doing genealogy, my family tree file has gotten pretty unwieldy.  When I started my research in the early 1990s, I was like a crazy person.  Every person I saw, I added to my tree!  Sometimes I would note the source.  Sometimes not.  Then I started to get serious about my research and attempted (on several occasions) to clean things up.  Each time I quit because it was just too daunting of a task.

Then a novel idea hit me.  Why not start over?  Clean slate and all that.  It feels good.  I have entered one small file folder of information over the last week.  I have maybe 50 folders, each on a different surname.  And some of them are quite large.  I'll let you know around folder #25 if it still feels good.

Good luck with your quest! And I hope the internet returns to normal soon.
