As we headed home from Guadalupe Mountains National Park and were speeding down the highway (yes, we love the 80mph speed limit in west TX!!), all of the sudden Vol Fan slammed on the brakes. He pulled over on the shoulder, hopped from the truck, and yelled 'Grab your camera' as he started running back down the highway. I was clueless. But I grabbed my camera and followed.
This is what Vol Fan had seen crossing the road.
Yes, friends. He slammed on his brakes for a tarantula!!
Holy cow, would you look how close Vol Fan got to that spider!!
There will be no more excuses in the House of Wood from Vol Fan when it comes to spider killing!

I don't know what I admire most -- that Vol Fan spotted and stopped for the tarantula or that he put his hand that close. Spiders in the House of Wood now need to beware.
in the name of blogging, one can get very brave. I actually held one for my adventure list, scary!
I would have swerved to run it over. Sorry. I am a HUGE chicken when it comes to spiders and they freak the heck out of me!!!
OH MY GOSH! That is one huge spider!
