Candles and Resolutions

On Christmas Eve, I joined my Dad for the Candlelight Service at church.  After the lights were turned off, one candle was lit from the Christ candle.  That candle was used to light the next candle and the next candle and the next candle.

As each candle was lit, the glow filled the church.  It is amazing how one tiny flame can drive back the darkness.  Of course, the parallel was that the candle represented Christ's love.  And as each believer shares that love, the glow spreads and spreads.

I was struck with the thought that the candle is representative of many things - good and bad.  Love breeds love.  Hatred breeds hatred.  I thought about how wonderful the world would be if we each purposed to spread only good things.

In 2014, I plan to strive to do just that.  I have much work to do on my attitude.
