Dixie

OK so I have spent all morning trying to wax poetic about my dog. I even stooped to using Thesaurus.com for adjectives. Trust me - you should be glad that all my "odes" got deleted. The world is better off without them. How silly I can be sometimes!

This all started from a post this morning on another blog. Actually, my favorite blog - Fatcyclist.com. His blog this morning was a question about what dog makes the best trail dog for mountain bikers. This really made me realize just how much I miss my dog. The accomodations that we have here in Banner Elk have a real silly rule - No dogs allowed! How crazy is that! Don't they know that Dixie is the best dog in the world?

Anyway, I really miss her. It may sound crazy but she is good company when I am home alone all day. And, no, I'm not crazy enough that I think she talks to me. I will admit that I talk to her - she is a very good listener. It is just nice to have another live creature in the house.

As long as it's feasible, she goes everywhere with me. And I miss her when she can't come along. When I was packing the car to come to Banner Elk, she was smart enough to pick up on the fact that I was leaving. Usually she trails behind me, just wanting to be near me. But not the day I was packing, she planted herself right beside the car and wouldn't move. Strange how animals can pick up on things. Like anytime I am sick, she won't leave her post beside my bed. If it is normal sleeping time, she will go and lay in her bed. But not if I am sick or if I am home alone.

Silly, I know - but I miss my dog!

PS - In case you were wondering why I have not been posting my weight - I didn't feel like it was really necessary to unpack something as frivolous as the scale when we are only going to be here for a couple of weeks. I mean, really, how far off the diet wagon could I fall? It's not like I ate a big delicious meal at a mexican restaurant last night, including chips and salsa. It's not like I haven't exercised in several days. It's not like I have gone back to having a large glass of chocolate milk with breakfast, instead of my small one.....Well, I don't think I want to talk about that any more!

Aww,I feel you. I always get upset if the place I'm staying doesn't allow dogs. It's hard to be away from them sometimes. :)

Some people may think that it's unreasonable to expect dogs to be welcome in these places, but in the age we live in... taking one's dog with them everywhere is becoming the norm. So, I think more place need to be accommodating.
